Team Announcement

After nine years of running a women’s cycling team we have decided to take a pause in 2018. With a silver medal for Laura Kenny on her return to top level racing and also for Laurine van Riessen at the 2018 UCI Track World Championships was the last major event for Matrix Pro Cycling in its current form.

In those nine years we are proud to have supported female riders including Elinor Barker, Joanna Rowsell Shand, Dame Sarah Storey and Dani King but also provided a training and development opportunity for many female riders in that time, some of whom will be competing in next month’s Commonwealth Games.

We started in 2010 with the aim of driving progressive change in women’s racing in the UK, by investing not only in our team but in the sport and the coverage of that sport.  Working together with our sponsors we helped fund more opportunities for women to race in the UK as well as providing opportunities to race internationally.

We have strived to set higher standards each year and do all we could to help our riders reach their goals and we’re proud not only of the Olympic Gold medals, World Championship victories National Championships wins our riders have won, but that we have been there when others weren’t to help keep riders in the sport.

It’s been an honour to work with all of our partners, our athletes and staff over the years.  Much has progressed but there is still much more to do. We will be back, but for 2018, we look forward to enjoying the sport as fans.
